Even in North Devon, things are feeling decidedly frosty now and there is even talk of a rare white Christmas. We'll believe it when we see it, but one thing you can depend on are all the colourful local markets and traders to provide good cheer, and good value, this December If you're quick, there are still some Christmas markets to head for, including our own Lynmouth Christmas Fair (10th Dec).

Failing that, you'll also find plenty from our local retailers, while larger regional gatherings, such as Barnstaple Pannier Market (open right through December) offer late night shopping and lots of gifts at only a short drive. Or, lastly, for those looking to shop and also keep kids happy, The Big Sheep near Bideford has Christmas Market Days on 16th & 23rd December and is a great place to take younger family members.

For those who love a taste of traditional cheer, there are also some wonderfully authentic carol services to attend locally around North Devon. The Carol Service at St. Bartholemews Church (Dec 19th) in Barbrook (EX35 6PG) is an atmospheric service to attend, not to mention a beautiful setting for Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve.
