In and around Lynton & Lynmouth...

For those who enjoy walking and the outdoor life, Lynmouth is a paradise. From the doorstep of the hotel you can take either coastal , riverside or moorland walks with fantastic scenery and wildlife to see. Exmoor National Park is home to many herds of wild red deer and Exmoor ponies can be seen grazing on the open moor nearby. The most popular walk is along the River Lyn to Watersmeet (1.5 miles) where you can enjoy a cream tea or have lunch at the National Trust tearooms or visit their gift shop. There is also a good local bus service by open top bus where you can catch a bus along the coast and walk back, or just stay on the bus and enjoy the breathtaking scenery from up high!

Other activities which can be enjoyed nearby include horse-riding, surfing (for the experienced surfer), tennis and putting, cycling, fishing and golf. For those who prefer something more relaxing there are steam train trips on the newly opened section of the Lynton and Barnstaple railway at Woody Bay station, or boat trips from Lynmouth harbour during the summer. Lynton also has a cinema showing the latest films and there are good local shops to browse around. Families with children will enjoy a ride on the Lynton and Lynmouth cliff railway, or a visit to nearby Exmoor Zoo or Exmoor Falconry, or for the more energetic cycles and mountain bikes can be hired in Lynmouth. The beach at Lynmouth is good for beachcombers and rockpoolers and during the main season Exmoor National Park offers a varied and interesting timetable of activities for both children and adults to enjoy.
