Many years ago a wise person built an inn near to the harbour in Lynmouth (the original buildings are 14th century) and this has been called the Rising Sun for many years. Now the inn and the adjoining cottages, which once were homes for fishermen, now comprise the Rising Sun Hotel. The hotel has a wealth of crooked staircases, narrow passageways, sloping floors and low beams and is thought to have once been a smugglers inn. The hotel now has modern facilities but still retains all of its old world charm.
The Rising Sun has an excellent restaurant specialising in fish, seafood, Lynmouth lobster in season and local produce, and we also serve great food in our bar area. Our menu usually changes on a daily basis.
Each of our 14 bedrooms has its own individual style and character, many of the rooms have half-tester beds and most have wonderful sea views. All our rooms are en-suite and have television, tea and coffee making facilities and direct dial telephones.
